DESCRIPTION:Please join Ohio Valley IFT Members Volunteer Event at the Kroger Food Pantry from 5-8:30 on November 9th!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you are interested in registering\, please reserve your spot on Event Brite – click here! \nThis will be a good opportunity to give back to the community and connect with fellow professionals within the industry right before the holiday season. \nIf you have any questions- feel free to reach out to Paul Bluman pbluman@lifespice.com \nA few details about the event are below: \nAGE REQUIREMENTS: 16 years of age and older are welcome. Ages 11-15 must be accompanied by an adult. Please maintain a 1:1 adult to child ratio and keep child with adult at all times. \nWHEN YOU ARRIVE: \n\nParking is free and on-site\nEnter through the food pantry doors on the east side of the building (closest to I-71).Check in at the food pantry office to sign-in.\n\nWHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: We have pantry assistants both inside the traditional pantry and helping us with curbside service.  When you arrive\, we’ll assign you a position in one of these two areas.  You may be rotated during your shift or you may remain in one area.   \n\nGreeting the families and providing them with the necessary information on how to shop in the pantry.\nAssist families that are shopping on the pantry floor by explaining how to use pantry selection charts\, and by answering questions regarding service.\nHelp organize and maintain stocked shelves from the available pantry inventory.\nConverse with families\, assist them in making food selections\, push shopping carts and help bag groceries.\nTaking pre-packed food orders from our pantry to our shoppers waiting in their cars.\nMaintain a clean\, welcoming\, and dignified space.\n\nWORK ENVIRONMENT: \n\nPrimarily will work in the pantry service area.\n\n\nAn energetic / outgoing personality is a real plus\, as it helps the families feel welcome and accepted.\n\n\nPhysical requirements include being able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and being on their feet for up to 2-3 hours at a time.\n\n\nAssist families with getting groceries to their cars and returning the shopping carts to the pantry.\n\nATTIRE: Attire should be something casual\, comfortable and that can get dirty. Since warehouse climate can be tricky\, layers are recommended.  Since you may be assisting with curbside service\, please bring appropriate outerwear for the season.  For safety purposes\, we cannot allow volunteers to wear open-toed shoes\, sandals\, or loose jewelry/clothing.
