Welcome to the Ohio Valley Section of the Institute of Food Technologists
OVIFT is one of 51 regional sections of the IFT organization, a non-profit scientific society with 22,000 members. Our members represent all areas of the food industry, from packaging to manufacturing to research & development and beyond. With professionals in industry, academia and government, we strive to promote all aspects of food technology.
Whether you are a new student or a seasoned professional, you will benefit from being a member of OVIFT. Meetings occur several times throughout the year (check out the Events page) for fun and informative evenings with outstanding speakers and tours. These events provide you with the opportunity to network, be active in your local area and enjoy gourmet cuisine.

The Midwest Section of the IFT Student Association is having its annual event in Columbus this year April 10 – 11, 2015!!
The Midwest area of IFT Student Association is seeking interested donors for the 2015 area meeting. This year, it is hosted in Columbus and will include the best and brightest minds from the following schools: Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue, University of Tennessee and Wayne State. Seventy students, both undergrad and grad, are visiting central Columbus. This is an opportune chance to highlight the robust food economy in our state. Last year, Ohio State was the national runner-ups and will be going for gold this spring. The event will be hosted on the OSU campus on the weekend of April 10th and 11th.
Many schools will also have a team that competes in the annual College Bowl Competition, the main event of the weekend. Students prepare for months in order to showcase their knowledge of food science in hopes of representing the Midwest Area in the national competition. This event is also an opportunity to update attendees on the progress and goals of IFTSA to help motivate further participation in IFT.
We are currently seeking donations, both monetary and product goods, for this event. Monetary donations help fund the networking reception, social reception, event meals, equipment and logistics to run the meeting, and other miscellaneous expenses. Product donations help us build gift bags for attendees and showcases the diverse food industry to the Midwest Area students. We would greatly appreciate if your company could make a contribution to help make this event a success.
